The majority of french remain faithful to bulk despite Covid

Despite the sanitary crisis, nearly 9 out of 10 French people intend to buy in bulk again.

Covid-19 and hygiene measures which have been put in place could have severely impacted this type of purchase, but it turns out that the lockdown had « only » a moderate impact on the segment: fewer than one out of two consumers has stopped buying bulk products during this period.
And more importantly, this stop is not primarily due to fear of the virus. But rather to difficulties in accessing the relevant departments: closed outlets, visits to closest shops, etc.
For Célia Rennesson, co-founder of Réseau Vrac, « consumers’ confidence has not dried up with the crisis. If they have turned away from it, it was mainly for logistical reasons » .

Just after the end of the lockdown 85% of bulk clients were buying such products again, which remains a real alternative to avoid packaging.
