73% of consumers have changed their diet

If the covid-19 crisis has been an accelerator of this trend, 73% of consumers have already changed their eating behavior in the last 2 years, reveals the SIAL Insights trend book. Thus, 63% of the people surveyed believe that choosing what they eat is a societal commitment and, 1 consumer out of 3 has really taken power by adopting at least one major change or by boycotting brands or products. Their motivation is mainly driven by a healthier diet (70%), without controversial ingredients (44%).
To protect the environment is key issue: almost a quarter of consumers have adopted a radical change for this reason. The search for better products better for me and the planet is increasing. A trend followed in shops with an increasingly large offer of health products and at a lower level in restaurants that give more priority to traceability, local and seasonal products with shorter menus.
