Carrefour acquires Bio c'Bon

After weeks of suspense, the Commercial Court of Paris has chosen Carrefour to take over the organic food retailer Bio c’Bon. Carrefour puts 60 million euros on the table, excluding future investments. This envelope concerns all creditors and the repurchase of stocks.

Alexandre Bompard, CEO of Carrefour published on Twitter a letter to welcome Bio c’Bon employees indicating that the acquisition of Bio c'Bon and its integration into So.bio will make it possible to create a major player in specialized organic distribution. Today, the group’s ambition is to keep the Bio c’Bon network, brand, teams and convictions and to combine their values with those of So.bio, which are compatible and complementary. Bio c'Bon will be the banner for organic, urban, premium, medium-format stores, while So.bio will be the banner for outskirts, large-sized stores.
This new network will offer selected branded products rigorously distinct from those of the supermarkets; on an assortment of regional and local products, sign of the anchoring of the stores and their employees in their territory; on a fair, affordable and sincere price allowing the greatest number of consumers to eat organic food every day.
