La Fourche launches an anti-waste offer

10 million tonnes of food are thrown away every year in France. With its anti-waste offer, the organic e-tailer La Fourche wants to take part in the fight against waste. Since July, 20,000 products have already been saved but La Fourche wants to go even further.

"We have noticed that there is invisible food waste, as the products concerned do not even reach the shops. We therefore want to fight against the excesses of a consumer system that forces suppliers to throw away products before putting them on the shelves, on the pretext that they are no longer in the right format, of the wrong colour or with an absurd minimum durability date" says Lucas Lefebvre, co-founder of La Fourche.

The reasons for wastage are often trivial. In 48% of cases it is a question of short shelf life, 40% packaging, 8% for poor anticipation of demand and 5% for products deemed unattractive. To date, La Fourche offers 80 products in its anti-waste section (savoury and sweet groceries, wine, hygiene and beauty) at accessible prices (up to 70% off).
